No place or date.

12mo. 2 pp. In pencil.

 3,000.00

Probably to Princess Marie Bariatinskiy, one of the Tsarina's few friends during her early years in Russia: "Dearest Mary, Am most happy to know you safely arrived. Tenderest love. Are dining at Anitchkov, otherwise should have peeped into your room. Sleep well. Am well tho tired after journey & emotion [...]".

Slight traces of former mounting on verso. Written on both sides of black-bordered stationery featuring her name in Russian beneath an embossed crown printed in black. According to documentary sources, much of Alexandra Feodorovna's personal correspondence was destroyed, and only rarely do any of her unpublished letters come to light (we are obliged to Elizabeth Jane Timms for additional information).
