To the French poet and librettist Émile Deschamps (1791-1871) about being unable to leave the house and to deliver his notes to the minister, as he had planned to do the following day, announcing to enclose several copies of Deschamps' "pretty thing" (not present), and offering to mail the rest as well: "Je suis indisposé [...] obligé de rester à la maison, et probablement encore demain, où je voulais adresser mes notes au Ministre. Voici quelques exemplaires de votre belle chose, si vous en avez besoin, je mettrai le reste à votre disposition [...]".
With a note regarding the former collector and donor on the reverse: "donné par M. Robelin". A subsequent collector's number "103" in pencil. Traces of former mounting on reverse. Small marginal tears; tiny hole near lower margin; a little creased.
