To Enzo Bentivoglio, Marquese di Gualtieri (1575-1639) in Ferrara, thanking him for earlier support when he was "ill far from my land" and relating that Lorenzo di Medici (1599-1648) had hired or promoted him as trumpeter.

Ottavio Ferrini later joined the court orchestra of Grand Duke Ferdinando II de' Medici, where he played alongside the trumpeter and composer Girolamo Fantini. In the years 1635/36, Ferrini received a higher salary than Fantini, probably due to his senior rank.
