Faraday is considered one of the most influential scientists ever and perhaps the best experimenter in the history of physics. He had several scientific contemporaries by the name John Murray, including a Scottish geologist and fellow chemist, and a well-known British science lecturer, with either of whom Faraday would have found reason to strike up a correspondance.
