First issue of this scholarly periodical published by Basrah University's College of Arts. It discusses various aspects of the Gulf, including wildlife, fishery, date cultivation, Islamic art and the history of the tribes of the Gulf, as well as oil exploitation and relations between Great Britain and the Middle East after the Second World War. For over a decade the journal appeared twice a year; since 1985 it has been published quarterly.

In Arabic with additional English cover title and some citations in English. Scarce: of all twelve holding institutions listed by the ZDB, only one (the University of Halle) holds the first volume.
