Geological paper discussing then-recent discoveries regarding the age of the Hadhramaut region by Ziad Rafiq Beydoun (1924-98), a Lebanese petroleum geologist and leading authority on the geology of the Middle East.

In his article, Beydoun provides a thorough stratigraphic analysis of the region backed up by new scientific evidence: three exploration wells drilled by the Pan American Oil Company between 1964 and 1966 had supplied sufficient data "to provide evidence for the ancient origin of the Hadhramut Arch" (p. 236).
