A two-page spread of colour plates shows how to read the central panels of 1916-17 issues of Hejaz stamps, colour-coded to help non-native speakers read the individual letters in stylized Arabic, thus enabling one to identify the Piastre, the one-quarter Piastre, the half Piastre, and the one-eighth Piastre. Includes a folding map printed in colour and illustrating zones of the Arabian Peninsula and some of the Gulf coast relevant to the postal information herein, including Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, British and French Mandates, and "Arab Territory". The text itself constitutes a detailed and scholarly breakdown of postage stamps and hand stamps from the region, ideal for a knowledgeable collector.
