A collection of hadiths relating to prophetic medicine by Abu al-Qasim al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Habib al-Nisaburi, about whom little is known, but whose name indicates that he was born in Nishapur, Iran, and who was active around 1750. Hadith collections are of particular importance across Muslim literature, as they provide a vital record of the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad as passed down in what was originally a very early oral tradition. Each hadith may have a special application in a particular field, as seen here with the focus on medicine. Referred to as 'Prophetic' medicine, such hadith collections discuss which foods and spices are of particular use in treating or preventing illnesses, per the works and words of the Prophet. They combine Muslim theology and Muslim medicine in their own literary tradition.
