Well-founded article on Saudi Arabia's mining policy and the importance of the new mining code drawn up on 8 February 1963. Reprinted from the U.S. Engineering and Mining Journal.

The article discusses prospected benefits of the Saudi mineral development programme, includes a digest of the new mining code, and mentions the milestone mapping programme of the 1950s and 1960s which produced the first geographico-geological maps of Saudi Arabia: the groundbreaking, fully bilingual and dual-dated series prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Arabian American Oil Company under the joint sponsorship of Saudi Arabia and the U.S. State Department. The illustrations include portraits of HH King Faisal Ibn 'Abd Al-'Aziz Al Sa'ud and Sheikh Ahmad Zaki Yamani, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as well as geologist field parties exploring mineral deposits on site.

Slightly toned, else fine.
