A letter from Mazarin's stay in Rome, before entering Richelieu's service. The beginning of the letter is written by a secretary; then Mazarin takes up his pen to write 17 lines. He thanks the Baron for his great courtesy, and for taking care of the transportation of his goods and two horses, including a grey one that Cardinal Bichi wishes to present to Monseigneur Giori. He will not fail to serve the Baron if the occasion arises. He promises to reimburse him for any expenses incurred. In the autograph postscript, Mazarin renews his thanks and announces that the horses have arrived. He has an appointment with Cardinal Francesco Barberini.

Small hole by ink corrosion. Attached is the end of a Autograph Letter Signed to the superintendents (1 page, oblong 12mo), asking them "kindly to pay" a sum to Cardinal Grimaldi.
