Signed by Ira Gershwin: number 5 of 250 copies of this facsimile edition of the song "Hi-Ho!", including a facsimile of Gershwin's manuscript, prepared for the Friends of the Theater & Music Collection of the City of New York, 1967. "Hi-Ho!" was a product of the legendary collaboration between the brothers Ira and George Gershwin, with George providing the music and Ira the lyrics. George Gershwin, in his short and wildly energetic career, was one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, with a legacy including "Rhapsody in Blue", "Swanee", and the opera "Porgy and Bess". Ira was successful in his own right, a skilled lyricist and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Included is the printed sheet music for "I Got Plenty 'o Nothin'" and "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess" (these first editions) and a later issue of "'S Wonderful".
From the collection of the American composer Robert A. Israel (b. 1931).
Light soiling and wear to case.
