A lovely Arabic manuscript of Coptic Christian homilies, used by the Orthodox Church to celebrate Sunday mass and particular holy days, comprising twenty-four homilies in total, divided into five sections. Specific homilies are assigned to Easter Sunday, Pentecost, All Saints, Sunday of the Myrrhbearers, Thomas Sunday, and Sunday of the Blind Man, and a full index is helpfully included at the end of the manuscript.
Coptic Orthodox Christianity has an ancient history in the Arab world, founded in Alexandria as one of the earliest major Christian sects. Unlike in Greek Orthodoxy, in the Coptic church Arabic is one of the main liturgical languages (along with Coptic, Greek, and Tamazight). Today, Egypt and Sudan are the centre of Coptic Christianity, with a large diaspora throughout the world.
With one ink ownership stamp, and a blindstamp throughout, both in Arabic.
Covers gently worn, a few minor smudges; in good condition.
