To the Privy Councillor Christian Gottlob von Voigt (1743-1819) about the lease on his Weimar garden and garden house: "Euer Exzell[enz] vermelde schuldigst: daß ich, bey herannahendem Frühling, jenen alten Gartenpacht pure erneuert und also diese Angelegenheit, gewiß auch mit Ihrer Beystimmung beseitigt habe. Mich und das Meinige angelegentlichst empfehlend [...]".
Goethe's finances had suffered due to the Napoleonic Wars, and thus he was forced to let out on lease his famous garden in the Weimar Park to Grand Duke Charles Augustus, who used it as a playground for his sons and for the children of his mistress, Karoline Jagemann (cf. W. Bode, Goethes Leben im Garten am Stern, 1920, p. 325 f.).
Small paper flaw to the counter-leaf from opening the seal.
