Folio (285 x 385 mm). (57) ff. on Japon nacré. With 8 engraved plates by Dalí (appearing 24 times in total) and two text plates in Chinese, one embossed, the other printed in red and black. Off-white morocco, smooth spine, mosaic decoration in shades of brown, red and burgundy covering the spine and boards, where walking figures seem to stand out. Cherry calf lining and endpapers, the counterspreads decorated with a series of mosaic morocco pieces evoking footsteps, top edge gilt. Untrimmed, black soft polished shagreen folder bearing the author's name mosaic in red on spine; matching slipcase.

First edition in French, signed twice by Salvador Dalí. Number 23 from a limited edition of 229 copies: one of 20 copies on Japon nacré (numbered 9-28), with the artist's signature next to the number of the copy. The poems, translated from Chinese by Ho Ju, are accompanied by a suite of engravings in black and another suite in sanguine; one of the sanguine plates is signed "Dali 1967". The first plate of the volume is printed on unpolished Japanese paper.
Preserved in the original binding by Ramon Gomez Herrera, signed with his stamp at the bottom of the upper cover.
Removed from the collection of Maurice J. Lachard; his bookplate to flyleaf.
