A study of the Islamic or Hijri calender, with extensive tables converting Hijri to Gregorian dates. "The details I have gone into about the Islamic reckoning are absolutely necessary for everyone who has to deal with Muslim historical monuments. Muslim chronology is a kind of charade, and only an initiate can unravel the meaning of the numbers set, and meanwhile, it is sometimes very important to find out the year and date of an event".

The author notes that he is the only one who compiled the calendar tables until 1421, the Muslim year, or before 2000 of ours. Terentiev, entering into polemics with his opponents, authors of other works on Muslim historical monuments, even criticizes the Imperial Academy of Sciences: "G. Veselovsky, who had my tables at hand, only out of the habit acquired by the Russian Academy of never referring to Russian works and hushing them up in every possible way, he referred to a German, giving reason to think that he was citing old style numbers!" - "In terms of their number, the Mohammedans occupy the first place among the Gentiles in Russia (reaching up to 11% of the total population of the Empire). The Mohammedans, adhering to the strictly conservative direction of their religion, are brought up in selfless devotion and loyalty to the Supreme Tsar".
