Two Latin verses (from Ovid's Epistulae and Owen's Epigrams) which illuminate the paradoxical situation of the stranger caught between the pull of his old country and that of his new one: "Nescio, qua natale solum dulcedine cunctos / definet, immemores non sinit esse sui" (Ovid, Epistolae ex Ponto I, 3, 35); "Illa mihi patria est, ubi pascor, non ubi nascor; / Illa, ubi notus eram; non, ubi natus eram".

Johann Gregorovius taught international and natural law at the University of Königsberg since 1717.

Old number in the upper right corner; slight worming to lower margin.
