Fifth and last edition of this rare Book of Herbs, mainly in the form of tables. With two additional plates not contained in the earlier editions; the engravings depict mainly phanerogams and their parts. The Regensburg theologian and naturalist Jacob Christian Schäffer (1718-90) concerned himself especially with entomological studies and created a series of collections. In 1757 he was made a member of the German Naturalists' Academy, "Leopoldina".
