Frances Trollope, mother of the English novelist Anthony Trollope (1815-1882), emigrated to the U.S. in 1827 when her husband, a lawyer, fell into financial misfortune. After his death she returned to England with her children and began her literary career in 1832, ultimately publishing more than 100 books - mainly novels and travelogues.
