Original edition of Breton de la Martinière's picturesque representations of the dress and manners of the inhabitants of the Russian empire. With numerous plates showing views of Moscow and the Kremlin, the Palace of Petrowski, inhabitants of various cities in their characteristic dress (Riga, Ochta, Valday), Cossacks, a settlement of Kalmouks, army officers, etc. A German edition appeared in 1816.

Bindings with traces of use. A fine set including the 'Avis au relieur' (instructions to the binder where to insert the plates) in volume 1.
