Rare pirated edition of various writings by Walter Benjamin about proletarian and revolutionary child education, the third issue. "The first pirated edition of texts by Walter Benjamin was a brochure published by the 'Zentralrat der Sozialistischen Kinderläden West-Berlin' in 1969 [...] The editors' polemical preface refers to a debate on the interpretation and publication of Benjamin's texts which had begun in 1967 in the journal 'Alternative' [...] Few pirated prints demonstrate as explicitly as does this one the context of the discussion within which Benjamin's texts were published and received at the time. Not only were previously scattered or inaccessible essays collected here, but at the same time a debate was documented which was intended to reflect historically on the political-pedagogical positions within the contemporary context [...] Benjamin's texts were supplemented by an excerpt from Asja Lacis' memories of the children's theatre in Orel (published in 1968 in 'Alternative' no. 59/60) and excerpts from a publication by Edwin Hoernle, 'Education for the Class Struggle', which, first published in 1922, was republished in 1958 in a GDR publication on the school policy and educational doctrine of the KPD in the Weimar Republic. As a swift reaction to the Zentralrat's pirated edition, a selection of Benjamin's writings 'On Children, Youth and Education' was published by Suhrkamp in the same year" (cf. Olenhusen, p. 29ff.).

Binding somewhat sunned. Trimmed closely with occasional light staining.
