"je suis obligé de réserver ma collaboration à Combat"

Camus, Albert, French writer and philosopher, Nobel laureate (1913-1960). Autograph letter signed.

Paris, 14. I. 1947.

8vo. ¾ p.

To the writer Charles Autrand (1918-76), stating that he is so overwhelmed with work that he must reserve all his efforts for the papers "Combat" and "L'Arche": "Je suis si débordé que je suis obligé de réserver ma collaboration à Combat et à l'Arche. J'ai de la sympathie pour les vivants. Mais on ne traite pas ce problème en trois phrases. Et je n'ai pas le temps de faire ce qu'il faut, si je veux garder celui d'écrire pour moi [...]".

"Combat" was founded in 1941 as a clandestine newspaper of the French Resistance, and later tried to become the place of expression for those who believed in creating a popular non-Communist Left movement in France.

On stationery with printed letterhead "Librairie Gallimard".
