Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Mit Vergnügen hier meine Unterschrift [...]".
Exhibiting his works at the Vienna Secession from 1906 and the Künstlerhaus from 1912 onwards, Müllner was a teacher at the Vienna Academy for 38 years. His oeuvre comprises a war memorial in the University of Vienna as well as neoclassical sculptures, including a fountain in the garden of Franz Schubert's birthplace and the "Monument to Youth" in front of the Temple of Theseus in Vienna (inofficially regarded as the city's most-photographed statue).
Some ink spots and traces of postmarks. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
