Preuschen, Hermione von, German painter and poet (1854-1918). Autograph quotation signed.

Tempio Hermione, Lichtenrade, 15. IV. 1910.

Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page.

 180.00

Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Eben zurück von Amerika! [...]".

Considered the inventor of historical still lifes, Preuschen created some controversy with her 1887 painting "Mors Imperator", which was thought to be an allusion to German Emperor Wilhelm I. She developed scenes from Greek mythology and produced popular flower paintings before turning towards writing poetry and novels around 1897.

Traces of a postmark; several small ink spots and small creases. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
