Charming collection of short letters to mostly unnamed friends. 1) A letter to a M. Mune, possibly the historian Gabriel de Mune, with New Year's wishes. Aicard also thanks Mune for books and promises to send him his latest play "Forbin de Solliès ou le Testament du roi René", thus allowing to date the letter to 1920. 2) A letter sent from La Garde with New Year's wishes from Aicard and his sister. 3) To a female friend, informing her that he went to see whether she had already returned, and sending greetings: "Je suis allé voir si vous étiez de retour. Je vous embrasse de tout mon cœur [...]". 4) A letter to a friend that appears originally to have been enclosed with a "presentation letter": "Voilà, mon cher ami, la lettre de présentation. Ira-t-il à Paris avant Mars ? Je ne crois pas".

"Forbin de Solliès ou le Testament du roi René" is based on the life of Palamèd de Forbin, seigneur de Solliès (1433-1508), a counsellor to René d'Anjou who managed to convince his lord to bequeath his estates to King Louis XI. The Comédie-Française fulfilled Aicard's wish for a premiere of the play in the ruins of the Forbin castle in Solliès, where he had been mayor since 1919, on 7 August 1920. It was Aicard's final play.

The letter to Mune with traces of former mounting. The letter from La Garde with a tear to the fold.
