First edition. Rare description of Kuwait as a young nation, published only a few years after it gained independence in 1961. Addresses the history of the country as well as its character as a modern nation, discussing the thriving oil industry, water supply and the importance of the Shatt-al Arab, next to education, religious life, hospitals and healthcare. The plates depict Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah (1895-1965) and his successor, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah (1913-1977).

Condition

Wrappers limp around edges; a few small tears. Spine reinforced with adhesive tape. Occasional small marginal tears to interior.
