Pretty edition of this collection of "memorable deeds and sayings", published for use at Jesuit schoolds. Dedicated by the author to Emperor Tiberius, this is "a collection of examples, arranged by rubrics, designed to serve the needs of orators and their schools" (cf. Tusc. Lex. Lit., 266).

Ink ownership to front endpaper: "Ex libris Jacobi Kofler Rhetoricae studiosus" (dated Halle, 1659); title-page as additional early ownerships, some stricken out. Blind-tooled covers well preserved; lower clasp lacks the eye on the upper cover. Interior clean and nearly spotless with a few contemporary annotations.
