Contemporary auburn morocco with green label to richly gilt spine; covers elaborately gilt with bishop's giltstamped armorial supralibros. All edges gilt; leading edges gilt. Coloured endpapers.

Splendid missal bound for the personal use of an unidentified bishop. His arms in the supralibros have been superimposed with a different crest by a later owner (removed from back cover).

Text and notes printedin red and black throughout; the engraved plates depict scenes from the life of Christ, mostly signed by Carlo Grandi (cf. Thieme/B. XIV, 506).

Appealing binding, slightly rubbed and chafed; some browning and fingerstaining to interior.
