Rare work from the press of Laemarius. The place of publication is not stated, but frequently said to be Lyon, although Laymarie never worked there (cf. Baudrier I, 240).
The elaborately decorated binding is dated "1600", during the rule of Frederick I of Württemberg (1593-1608). The armorial stamp used on the cover agrees with the one described by Haebler (II, 93, 1), which is found on the bindings of the private library of the Duke of Württemberg. However, "the Württemberg arms appear to have been used much more widely by local bookbinders to decorate their bindings" (cf. Haebler II, 90).
Lacks ties; stamped covers are well preserved. The title-page shows two 17th century ownerships. Interior a little browned or stained, but generally a very appealing copy.
