Collection of Persian poetry with German translations by the Viennese oriental scholar Wickerhauser (1820-69), professor at Vienna's Oriental Academy from 1848 until 1861. One of the many fine productions of Vienna's Royal and Imperial State Printing Office, famous for its wide range of printing types, which spanned 35 oriental alphabets as early as 1845. Jami (AH 817-898 / 1414-92 CE) was one of the last classic authors of Persian literature; his work had a lasting impact on Central Asian, Turkish and Indian poetry.
