Results of the Survey of Eastern Sinai as presented before the International Geological Congress, held in Paris in August 1900. A presentation copy inscribed by the author on the title-page "With the author's kind regards".

A topographic and geological report on the eastern Sinai, based on the findings of the 1898-99 Ordnance Survey and the map prepared by Herbert G. Skill in the process. In an autograph annotation to the introduction, the author notes that Skill's sketch map appeared in the Congress publication. The present work predates by five years the major "Topography and Geology of the Peninsula of Sinai" prepared by Hume and Skill.

A leading geologist, Hume gave up his position as a lecturer at the London Royal College of Science and moved to Egypt in 1897 to assist with the geological survey of the whole country. In 1909 he became Director of the Geological Survey of Egypt.

In very good condition.
