A description of an ivory chest in the cathedral of Bayeux, Normandy, said to have been taken from the Saracens by Charles Martel. The inscription around the lock, in Cufic Arabic, states: "In the name of God, the most gracious and merciful, whose justice is perfect and whose grace boundless".
Spine insignificantly sunned, interior (apart from first gathering) browned and foxed.
