This travelogue, recounting a journey across the Arabian Peninsula from Riadh to the Arabian Gulf, was highly esteemed at the time of its publication, though is now known to contain fictional passages. Palgrave disguised himself as a Syrian Christian doctor named Selim Abu Mahmoud al'Eis and spent 13 months travelling.

Some foxing.
